EZQuest UltimatePower Wall Charger Review
Summary
At a roughly 35% smaller footprint than Apple’s 96W charger, 2 additional ports, a high-end USB-C charge and sync cable, and a European adapter, the EZQuest UltimatePower Wall Charger offers a solid alternative to OEM power supplies.
EZQuest UltimatePower Wall Charger Review
GaN (Gallium Nitride) chargers put out more power from a smaller footprint. The recently reviewed Topvork 100W GaN charger offers two USB-C ports. EZQuest’s new UltimatePower Wall Charger offers even more impressive specifications as an alternative for up to three devices or accessories.
What we like
The EZQuest UltimatePower Wall Charger ups the GaN game with an additional 20 watts of power and a USB-A port. The braided Kevlar® core nylon 2-meter DuraGaurd USB-C cable with strain reliefs proves as rugged as it is good-looking. The EZQuest charger does run $40 more than the Topvork charger at full retail, but the additional features and power may make it worth the price difference for many. With periodic discounts to $79.99, the difference between the TopVork charger and the EZQuest unit narrows, making the more robust and flexible EZQuest charger a cost-effective competitor.
The UltimatePower charger PD charges very quickly. I started charging my iPad Pro with it when out of the office, and I found the top off just as fast as the desk charge from my 100W OWC Thunderbolt hub. The UltimatePower charger easily charges two other devices simultaneously, say a phone and an Apple Watch.Â
Unlike older chargers, the EZQuest UltimatePower Wall Charger was designed to stay cool with Negative Temperature Coefficient  (NT) technology, and thermally conductive epoxy inside the housing.Â
The charger also keeps the charging experience protected with over-current, voltage, temperature and short-circuit protection.
The charger’s hardware includes intelligent circuitry that allocates power based on the connected devices’ power needs.
Like the Topvok charger, EZQuest designed a foldable US wall plug. EZQuest adds value with an EU International converter that slips over the tucked-in prongs, keeping the charger compact and sturdy.
At a roughly 35% smaller footprint than Apple’s 96W charger, 2 additional ports, a high-end USB-C charge and sync cable, and a European adapter, the EZQuest UltimatePower creates an intriguing value proposition.
EZQuest backs the charger with an 18-month warranty.
What could be improved
Like the Topvork charger, the EzQuest UltimatePower charger is more horizontal and vertical, meaning it can weigh heavily on standard wall sockets. If you encounter one of those well-used sockets in a hotel that struggles to hold on to a lamp cord, then either the Topvork or EzQuest charger will have a hard time staying put. Fortunately, most hotels now offer plugs with vertical sockets that let gravity reinforce the connection.
For a compact design, I would like to see less packaging and plastic. The flip-open top and plastic window on the product seem overkill for a world of online retail. Even at an airport kiosk a box with pictures will suffice. The package does indicate the use of recycled materials, but an even smaller package with less plastic would make for a more sustainable experience.
EZQuest UltimatePower Wall Charger: The Bottom Line
EZQuest delivers not only a top-notch charging experience, but an accessory package that makes the EZQuest UltimatePower Wall Charger a good backup for many standard chargers, or for travel, a solid replacement. Leave the OEM charger at home and take this more flexible version on the road.
A single power supply for multiple devices also simplifies packing and reduces the risk of losing a smaller phone or tablet charger.
