This high-resolution recording ensures rich and clear audio, suitable for professional-grade projects. The intuitive multi-function control dial allows users to adjust gain, volume, and monitor playback seamlessly. Additionally, the dial provides real-time visual feedback on audio levels.
The bright red lighting allows users to personalize their microphone’s appearance with various patterns. The redesigned shock mount simplifies microphone removal, enhancing user convenience. The HyperX Quadcast 2 has become my go-to microphone. Its read, throbbing tubular condenser brings an air of mystery and intrigue to my desktop, while its outstanding audio makes those on calls with me feel like I’m in the room. I have been told that to my virtual face. I have also tested the Quadcast 2 for recording stories that I upload to my granddaughter’s toniebox and as an interface to multimodal Ais. It fits all those use cases, delivering excellent audio every time. Beyond sound sports a well-designed desktop profile that doesn’t threadten to fall over and mostly stays out of the way.

What we like
The HyperX QuadCast 2 delivers exceptional audio quality, providing up to 24-bit/96kHz resolution. This clarity ensures recordings are rich, detailed, and professional-grade, making the microphone ideal for streaming, podcasts, voiceovers, and virtual meetings. The audio clarity significantly reduces the need for extensive post-processing, which is invaluable for creators seeking efficiency.

Its intuitive multifunction control dial streamlines the user experience, allowing seamless gain adjustment, headphone volume, and playback monitoring. Additionally, this dial doubles as a visual audio-level indicator, clearly displaying volume feedback to users in real-time, enhancing ease-of-use during recording or streaming sessions. The Quadcast 2 supports multiple polar patterns, including cardioid, omnidirectional, bi-directional, or stereo. Pushing the button on the front for five seconds sets the pattern with visual feedback as shown in the illustration on the left.
The convenient tap-to-mute functionality offers quick and discreet control over audio inputs, accompanied by clear LED indicators that visibly communicate mute status at a glance. This feature is particularly valuable during live streams or virtual meetings, where rapid muting can prevent unintended broadcasting of background noise or interruptions.
Red lighting sets the QuadCast 2 apart visually, with my version breathing and pulsing until I tap it to mute, at which point I’m not heard, and the microphone goes dark. This feature not only allows for some personalization and integration with other HyperX gear via the HyperX NGENUITY software, creating an immersive, synchronized visual setup. The downside is that NGENUITY only runs on a PC (Sorry, Mac owners).
The microphone’s redesigned shock mount with and spring-load pins simplifies the setup removal process significantly, allowing users to detach the microphone effortlessly for maintenance or storage. This design enhances convenience and reduces downtime between recording sessions, appealing to creators who value quick adjustments. Need to mount it in another way, the microphone’s shockmount joint offers a threaded option for booms or tripods.
USB-C connectivity ensures compatibility with modern devices and provides stable, reliable connections without the need for additional adapters. The plug-and-play functionality simplifies installation on various platforms, including Windows, macOS, PlayStation, and more, delivering immediate performance right out of the box. The QuadCast 2 is part of my all USB-C movement toward adopting only devices with modern connectivity. For those who don’t want to follow my lead, or can’t it, includes a USB-A adapter (and a very good cable).
Solid all cardboard and paper packaging.
What could be improved
While impressive, the high-resolution 32-bit/192kHz recording capabilities of the QuadCast 2 may not meet the needs of all content creators. Those who need ultra-high audio resolution should consider the Quadcast 2S or ProCast. The QuadCast 2 will easily support streaming platforms like Twitch or YouTube.
HyperX’s Ngenuity software, though excellent for controlling lighting effects, offers limited audio customization options. Advanced users seeking detailed control over audio equalization or fine-tuning capabilities will likely find the software inadequate. Without built-in comprehensive EQ settings or audio processing tools, users might be compelled to rely on third-party applications, complicating workflows and possibly affecting ease of use.
HyperX NGENUITY software is designed for Windows systems and does not have native support for macOS. This means that Mac users cannot directly install or run the software on their devices. However, some users have reported success using virtualization tools like Parallels to run NGENUITY on macOS, allowing access to customization features for HyperX products. Additionally, HyperX has released an iOS version of the NGENUITY app, but it only supports HyperX headphones. As of now, there is no macOS version of the NGENUITY software.
At $149.99, the HyperX QuadCast 2 sits at the upper end of the pricing spectrum compared to other microphones offering comparable core audio quality and features. Competitors like the Elgato Wave:3, JLab JBuds Talk or the Blue Yeti X provide strong audio performance, comparative audio controls, or similar ease of use at lower or similar prices. Budget-conscious or value-driven creators may struggle to justify the extra cost unless drawn to HyperX’s enhanced aesthetics or brand ecosystem. The outstanding audio quality, however, may tip the scale in the direction of the Quadcast.
HyperX Quadcast 2: The bottom line
The HyperX QuadCast 2 delivers high-quality audio and user-friendly features, making it a strong contender for content creators seeking a reliable microphone. However, its premium pricing and limited audio customization options may lead some users to consider alternative models that offer an alternative balance between functionality and cost.
