Review: VogDuo 57W Car Charger–PD
$49.99
The VogDuo 57W Car Charger–PD: Many might ask why review a chart charger: aren’t they all the same? The answer is no. Most car chargers trickle a charge into devices, keeping minimally discharged devices topped, off, but taking forever to charge a device from scratch.
Enter the VogDuo 57W Car Charger—PD with 57 Watts of total power to distribute. The PD stands for “Power Delivery.” This little powerhouse generates enough output to charge a MacBook and an iPhone at the same time. For gamers, the device also charges a Nintendo Switch. And it will charge an HP EliteBook as well. Pretty much anything with a power port driven by USB.
But not just any USB. This VogDuo car charger achieves its increased rates of charge on some devices because it comes equipped with a USB-C port. And for anything else, a USB-A port accompanies its smaller cousin. The electronics also keep an eye on the car battery and warns the driver if it’s getting low. An integrated circuit analyzes the attached device and delivers the best charging profile for that device.
The charger’s design is exceptionally well executed with a bit of a Porsche vibe. It’s thin, light and with the design beautifully rendered with glossy black or red plastic and high-polished metal components. The box includes a USB-C cable. New owners will have to supply their own Apple Lighting or micro-USB cables (of which most of us have drawers full).
My one negative on the VogDuo 57W Car Charger–PD is the packaging, which includes a plastic box cover and a blister pack around the charger, neither of which display recycling symbols.
Overall, this VogDuo car charger makes a good investment, even for those with built-in USB ports in their vehicles. Plugging this device into a power port will decrease charging time over most OEM charging solutions.
